Traditional theatre of Indonesia as influenced by indian culture

The article is devoted to the identification of theatrical forms common to the art of India and Indonesia. The work traces the milestones of the historical interaction of these countries, reveals the phenomenon of “Indianization” of Indonesian culture. Indonesian theatrical performances are regarded as syncretic forms of art, combining music and stage action. Attention is paid to such theatrical forms as Wayang beber and Wayang kulit: the earliest references to these theatrical forms are given, the choice of scenes is described, and the specifics of the performance are noted.
