Pablo Picasso, Igor Stravinsky and Georges Braque: dialogue of the dedicated
The article is devoted to the interpretation of the paintings of the artists Georges Braque "The Musician" (1917-1918) and Pablo Picasso "Three Musicians" (1921), which are considered in the framework of the cultural dialogue between Picasso and Igor Stravinsky. Carrying out attribution and interpretation of the designated canvases, the author comes to the following conclusion. Despite the fact that the picture of Braque's "The Musician" was created a year before the time when Picasso wrote "Three Musicians", in general, both canvases create a kind of diptych, actualized in the space of the artist's personality formation at the level of the process and the result. So, if in the Picasso painting three masks symbolize a possible choice in favor of feeling, mind or will, then the picture of Marriage is their trinity as a condition for the integrity of the creator himself. Given the general nature of the image of musicians, marked by the installation of symmetry, fluidity of color layers, an all-consuming rhythm, etc., paintings by Braque and Picasso can be considered as a spiritual portrait of a creative person, the highest purpose of which, according to ancient thinkers, is to create music as perfect art form.
