Vitaly Maximov and Edison Denisov
Vitaly Vasilyevich Maksimov came to our city after graduating from the Moscow State Music and Pedagogical Institute named after the Gnessins as an artist of the Tomsk Symphony Orchestra. Tomsk became the city where cellist Maksimov passed his bright professional path. He became a concertmaster, soloist, head of the chamber orchestra of the Tomsk Academic Orchestra. One of the brightest episodes in the artistic biography of V. Maksimov was his meeting with the outstanding composer of our time, Edison Vasilyevich Denisov, a native of our Tomsk. Author's concerts of Edison Denisov took place on March 23 and 24, 1990 at the Organ Hall of the Tomsk Regional Philharmonic. For presentation to the Tomsk audience, the orchestra and soloist chose a large work by E. Denisov "Variations on a Theme by I. Haydn" for cello and symphony orchestra. The meeting with Edison Denisov became the only one in Maksimov's life, but until the last days of his life, our wonderful musician and teacher recalled moments of communication with E. Denisov.
