Individual facts of cultural history as elements of its larger-scale trends

Several facts are examined that seem connected only from a historical perspective. In reality, their unification is virtually impossible. These include, for example, the creative explorations of G.F. Handel, which had a profound impact on the development of opera in general, as well as the interconnected biographies of Alexander Pirogov and Ivan Petrov (Krause).
