IN FORMATIZATION OF EDUCATION AS THE FACTOR OF STUDENTS’ INFORMATION COMPETENCE FORMATION

The article is devoted to models of the relationship between the informatization of the educational process and formation of students’ information competence. Information competence is one of the most important personal and professional qualities which determine adaptation of the individual to the informa-tion society and the possibility of effective application of information technologies in every sphere of human activities. Therefore students’ information competence formation is one of the most important tasks of lifelong education. The research problem is as follows: what are the main factors and conditions of development of students’ information competence in educational institutions. The information competence is known to be the individual’s familiarization with information tech-nologies and values of the information society. Significance of information competence is steadily in-creasing due to the growth of volume, intensity and complexity of information processes in the world. Lack of information competence leads to impossibility of informatization in any sphere of human activity and therefore hampers its development. In this regard pedagogics considers information competence de-velopment as a social order in continuing education. The authors note that the computerization of education and development of students’ information competence are synergistic processes in the case of sustainable links between them. On the one hand, information competence of the teacher and a certain degree of informatization of educational process are the initial conditions for the students’ information competence formation and obtaining knowledge (informatization of teaching is a significant factor in subject mastering). On the other hand, the students information competence development increases the degree of informatization of educational process, because the student who has obtained a sufficient level of know-ledge of the subject and an appropriate information competence can be involved in the completion of computer support of educational process (primarily information and educational resources). It is necessary that the two processes - the information competence development of educational process and expanding its computer support systems - should be permanent, synchronous and interrelated in order to reveal social and cultural potential of educational informatization. The authors propose some mathematical models of such relationship. This paper proves that informatization of educational process is the main social and cultural factor of students’ information competence development.
