M-LEARNING IN MODERN EDUCATION

This article discusses the key features of mobile learning - a new form of learning, which appeared more than ten years ago, and based on technological and didactic capabilities of mobile devices. Mobile processors computing power growth and the introduction of new wireless communication systems in recent years have greatly extend the functionality of tablet computers and smartphones, providing almost all of the information needs of the owners of such devices. Therefore mobile learning today is not just one of the technologies of e-learning, but a special form of learning, based on access to resources and training facilities and the organization of communicative interaction in the educational environment. This changes the ways of presenting the educational material and makes learning relevant, complete and personalized (“just-in-time, just enough, and just-for-me”). According to the technological changes occurred in recent years and planned for the future, mobile technology today can be successfully applied in various education levels, with particular emphasis on self-education, school, high school, distance and corporate learning. Mobile devices are available now to the majority of students, including Russia, but the integration of these devices into the learning process in our country is not as intensive as in many other foreign countries. Mobile learning is widely used in school and corporate learning which shows successful projects on the use of e-books and tablets for educational purposes. The use of mobile technology is a promising direction in the activities of higher education institutions, but contemporary experience of its development and implementation is limited due to the specifics of individual disciplines. The completed learning often courses do not have adequate support and may not always fit into the existing educational programs. Therefore, the introduction of funds for the development of courses of the mobile learning format and related techniques today is one of the urgent tasks for the development of new forms of learning. Approach to the solution of this issue can be complex. The introduction of mobile learning requires accounting a number of factors that can negatively affect the organization and effectiveness of the implementation of this kind of learning. These include both the technological features of mobile devices and the problems of organizational and methodical nature. The inclusion of these features will bring the training to a new, more qualitative level, overcoming the negative impact of modern information technologies in the educational process. In this case, the development and the exploring of the new methods of mobile learning can facilitate the teacher and student’s dialogue, increase student’s motivation and the creation of personalized learning spaces. A transition to the new standards in e-learning over time will help to develop skills for lifelong learning throughout their lives.
