MEDIA EDUCATION OF ADULTS IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF MODERN MEDIA ENVIRONMENT
This article considers the importance of adults’ media-education in the conditions of new communication technologies development. Nowadays due to web 2.0 technologies many users are actively involved into creation, sharing and exchange of their own media-content, and herewith the most essential problem is how to make this content accurate, authentically, up-to-date and adapted to the modern social media environment. A contemporary personality, who urges to manage successfully his social and professional tasks despite his occupation, should improve his online communication skills such as searching information followed by its review, creation and sharing his own media-content, and comprehension of responsibility for safety regulations in media environment. It is unacceptable too critical approach to valuation of information adequacy which can lead to rejection of essential information in connection with difficulty of the original source definition. Thus educational institutions should include into their curricular special media programs in order to develop media-literacy of their students and meet their academic requirements. Media-education is a part of basic right of every citizen of any country for freedom of expression and information accessing (UNESCO). Media education promotes citizens to recognize the potential of media for presentation or misrepresentation of their culture and traditions. Media education should be introduced into national curricula wherever possible as well as into post-secondary, informal and lifelong self-education. Astrakhan State University has developed a special media-training module in the framework of State Plan for training of management personnel for national economy organization (the major ‘Management in social environment’). It is aimed at the audience consisting of heads of pre-schools, primary and secondary schools, workers of establishments and enterprises of the city and region. In developing the curricular, the newest media-education requirements were regarded, videlicet UNESCO recommendations for media-education of adults, European Parliament resolution for media literacy in digital world, media education conceptions of Russian and foreign researchers. Astrakhan state university is interested in Astrakhan region sustainable development based on continuous education of different groups of population. Further implementation of these programs will give an opportunity to teach the adults of the region to use the Information communications technology with confidence and apply them effectively in their daily life.
