Digital humanities: tradition and innovation in educational practices
This Research is supported by Tomsk State University Competitiveness Improvement Program. The emergence and rapid development of digital humanities is determined by a the modern socio-cultural situation when use of digital technologies stops being only the means, optimizing work with information, but becomes an integral part of the this reality, demanding mandatory reflection and critical evaluation. New for the humanities agenda requires training of universal specialists, equally possessing techniques and knowledge of the humanities and skills in the IT-sphere. It convincingly shows the priority of the interdisciplinary researches, uniting techniques and practices of various sciences for the purpose of studying the opportunities of application of new digital technologies in socio-humanistic practicians. The article analyzes the conditions and mechanisms of the organization of interdisciplinary master programs in Digital humanities. The necessity of changes in the structure and content of the training in the humanities in connection with the development of digital technologies is proved. As a possible solution an experimental educational project of Tomsk State University is presented, which brings together two different training areas - Philosophy and Applied Informatics. A feature of the proposed model is the movement of administrative focus from the structural division (chair, faculty or institute), which is carrying out educational activity, on the educational product - in this case the master program, meeting the modern requirements of science, education and business. In its construction participates not the separate structural division, but the interdisciplinary team, created on the basis of research laboratory, into which representatives of science, education and business enter. On the crossing of their interests the interdisciplinary educational program is created. In this work the hypothesis is made that this model will not only facilitate a solution of the problem of the organization of interdisciplinary educational programs, but also is relevant of the problems Digital humanities, as such approach is connected with the nature of the digital humanities, integrating experience of the different scientific directions for development of humanitarian researches and practices. An example of an educational Digital humanities project shows a situation where the creation of interdisciplinary educational programs is an appropriate response to the challenges of the time, which, in its turn, generates high demands on the content of educational products, which, while maintaining a sustainable traditions of fundamental education, would have an open flexible structure, capable to “adapt” to the changing reality, increasingly giving birth multidisciplinary tasks and requires their solutions. This demands a serious revision of the existing principles of the organization of educational process and its close connection with the scientific and business structures, thus indicating a new stage in the development of modern education.
