THE EXPERIENCE OF MOOC CREATION: AN OUTWARD GLANCE (METHODICAL AND MANAGEMENTAL ASPECTS)
In this paper, we try to cover the field which in not the brand new one for European and American educational system but still incorporating to the Russian education: the field of making and applying massive open online courses (MOOC) in the context of a specific university - National Research Tomsk State University. At the moment MOOC can be referred to as the most talked about in the field on online education: teachers, researchers, and education officials analyze and study MOOC from different viewpoints. In particular, the issues under discussion touch the legitimacy of putting MOOC-education equal to the traditional one; the issues of quality of education which learners get of massive open online courses; the issues concerned with MOOCs integration into traditional academic activity of universities; juridical and economical aspects of these courses making are actual as well. As the object of study, finished MOOC can be interesting from different sides. The process of making MOOCs can be analyzed from different points of view: one of the possible options is the analysis of making massive online course from the point of view of a university which this educational product creation is based on, or the point of view of a lecturer who is the direct course author, who makes it and tracks it in the future. There is no doubt that, depending on which point of view we choose, there is a variable set of specifications we are interested in. In this paper, we try to examine the process of making MOOC “from within” - from the point of view of a lecturer in the context of a specific course - “Русский язык как инструмент успешной коммуникации”. The process of making course “Русский язык как инструмент успешной коммуникации” was, in many aspects, an experiment for TSU; the projects being held in this direction are still rather new for the university, the methodology of the realization process is still being polished; it was even more topical for the first courses made for the university. This reason was the cause for the approach suggested within the limits of this paper: we aim to discuss not only specific steps of MOOC creation but also to cover up hypothetical mistakes and risks following the process.
