THE EXPERIENCE OF ESTABLISHMENT AND OPERATION OF LABORATORY EQUIPMENT FOR PRACTICAL PHYSICS BACHELORS OF TECHNICAL SPECIALTIES

The article describes the experience of creation and operation of complex laboratory equipment for physical workshop designed for bachelors of engineering and technology. It is shown that under the conditions of a significant reduction in training time available in an undergraduate program in the study of general physics, we need new approaches to the successful implementation of the process of teaching the fundamentals of physical thinking to students. For this purpose the requirements were formulated and an essentially new set of educational laboratory equipment was developed, in which the emphasis has done not to how to conduct experiments, but to the analyses of the results. Firstly, for successful demonstration of physical phenomena under study the installations are to make it possible to carry out the whole cycle of measurement within a short possible period. Secondly, the installations must be designed so that the process of the laboratory work had no need any readjustments or additional settings, and all removable elements were embedded directly into the hardware system. Thirdly, work with the installation should not be reduced to a blind pressing the buttons but encourage students to meaningful actions in the process of measurement performing and analysis of the experimental data obtained. Fourthly, the laboratory devises should have increased protection against vandalism - alas, but it is modern reality. It’s no secret that students are treated with a certain degree of skepticism to workshops, primarily due to outdated equipment; sometimes it is much older than the students themselves. However, the fundamentals knowledge on physics is not getting old yet. Laboratory devices made in the above style described, can help to improve the students’ understanding the material. Dynamic and rich with information workshop rarely gets bored, and gives the students an extra incentive to study physics, clearly showing the relationship between the different sections of the course of physics and the state of typical modern technology. A constructive performance and compact sizes of the installations of a laboratory complex make them mobile, that makes it possible to use them in any conditions without a specially equipped room. Thus, this hardware system maintenance described makes it possible to improve significantly the effectiveness of workshops within a short period of baccalaureate. Its use gives an opportunity to increase considerably the professional competence of graduates, to accelerate their adaptation to technological processes of industrial enterprises and show obviously the influence of the physical laws on modern level of technology development. The time for performing any laboratory work is getting minimized, and the students can visually operate the process of its implementation. Successful experience of ten-year operation showed the correctness of the decisions made.
