GENRE EXPERIENCES: TRAINING TO WRITE AN ESSAY
In modern conditions of Russia development the formation of communicative skills are of particular importance. Today, the society needs an initiative, sociable person owning different types of speech activity, capable to cooperation. The efficiency of speech activity of a native speaker is in direct dependence on quality of his/her communicative abilities. The important means of formation of students’ communicative competence are written tests of various creative formats. The most effective form of a written statement of thoughts promoting the development of students’ communicative abilities is an essay. The choice of the essay as a subject of training of speech statement in a composition is caused by increasing importance of this genre in the modern society. In our practice training how to write a composition in the form of an essay is constructed on personal experience of students. The methodological basis of training of students to write an essay is a system -and -activity approach. In the course of preparation for writing a composition in the form of an essay we use the problem method, since it is focused on activization of students’ educational activity. The preparation for writing of creative work assumes some stages: 1. The preparatory period. 2. The main period. 3. The final period. The preparatory period makes the students ready to analyze various samples of essays: it reveals the specificity of the essay as a genre, specifies its genre signs, studies the literary forms of the genre, the essay types. The main period assumes the analysis of literary samples of the essay. At the final stage students will be able to implement the gained knowledge in practice. The assessment criteria of the essay can be as follows: 1) small volume; 2) free reasoning on a subject, ease of a narration; 3) personal nature of perception of a problem and its judgment; 4) relevance, originality, brightness; 5) free composition, fragmentariness; 6) internal semantic unity; 7) lucidity of mind, distinctness, correctness; 8) aphoristic nature, figurativeness, emotionality; 9) use of art and graphic means; 10) focus on colloquial intonation and speech; 11) literacy; 12) independence of work performance. This experience of training to write an essay can be the additional material for the Russian language lessons, to become a basis for carrying out lessons of speech skills development in high school. The presented experience makes it possible to reach steady results for proficiency in the Russian language. The training to write a composition in the form of the essay promotes the formation of a creative social adapted person capable to think critically, to subject to the analysis the developed representations, life experience, to find non-standard solutions of problems.
