Use of electronic educational resources in tutor work with children having special educational needs

The article contains information about the use of electronic educational resources for teaching children with special educational needs. Children with special educational needs are pupils with physical and mental abnormalities which lead to violation of the general development and social and psychological disadaptation. Thus, there are the following categories of children being taught by Oleg Vladimirovich Troshin’s system broken into classification of psychological abnormalities. 1. Psychosensorial: hearing and visual impairment; 2. Affective: autism, psychopathia; 3. Cognitive: intellectual incapacity (feeble-minding) and mental retardation; 4. Psychomotor: speech disorder and musculoskeletal disorder. Children with special educational needs demand specific teaching and pedagogical methods as well as creation of learning environment. Nowadays a computer becomes the effective tutor’s assistant in organization of teaching children with special educational needs. It helps to arrange and individualize their educational activity and create their convenient work pace. The use of electronic educational resources in tutor’s work is a powerful factor for enrichment of intellectual, moral and esthetic development of children with special educational needs. They enhance their perception of the world of information culture. We would like to bring to your attention a review of specialized developing computer games and programs which help to effectively develop abnormal functions of children with special educational needs in the teaching process. The computer considerably expands opportunities of visual presentation of information and makes it possible to increase children’s motivation. Game-playing elements included in the computer programs can activate cognitive activity of children and promote better information digestion. The use of electronic educational resources for educational activity arouses children’s emotional lift. Even poor students enjoy working with the computer and any failure during a game makes some of them to ask for tutor’s help or work for a goal by their own. Declaring the computer to be a powerful tool for cognitive development of children with special educational needs, it is necessary to remember that its use in educational purposes demands careful organization concerning age of children, health regulations and norms requirements. Competent use of technical tools and adequate application of specialized development games can promote the abilities of children with special educational needs without any health risk.
