INAL QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEY IN HIGH SCHOOL AS A METHOD OF REFLEXION OF LEARNERS’ AND TEACHER’S EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE ENGLISH CLASSES)
This paper focuses on comprehensive analysis of final educational questionnaire that was designed at examining the effectiveness of educational process and teacher’s activity. The questionnaire was conducted among 14 students of Bachelor’s and 14 Masters’ degree of Higher School of Television at Moscow State University during English language classes. The questionnaire explores the students’ attitude towards educational tasks, their efficiency evaluated by learners, control tests and works accomplished during the course. Furthermore, the article contemplates on different kinds of questionnaire that could be used as one of the ways to survey teacher’s and learners’ activity in the pedagogical context. The final questionnaire survey presented in the article is a mixed one - a combination of open and closed questionnaires. In addition, the questionnaire was conducted in electronic form so as to meet learners’ preferences to do electronic tasks more than paper ones. The aims of carrying out such way of survey were to obtain data for improving educational process, for comparing them with result of subsequent questionnaire surveys, for making up strategy of educational process in accordance with learners’ opinions. Moreover, during the final questionnaire learners answered open and closed questions about their preferences for the following academic term. As a consequence, learners feel themselves as important subject in educational process by contributing their ideas on the organization of teaching content. In the paper it is proved that the language teacher could benefit from final educational questionnaire in the following ways: by receiving learners’ feedback on their teaching work, by getting sincere and objective opinions on implementing different activities and tasks, by getting data for analyzing their own teaching behavior, strategy and methods used during English course - called self-reflection. Finally, it is summed up that a questionnaire as a kind of final educational survey could be perceived as a means of information exchange, element of educational process that helps to implement needed changes according to the data obtained in the management of learning and teaching process; way of involving learners’ in construction of learning process as partners. It also should be noted that questionnaire survey helps to get learners’ feedback as well as it helps learners to self-react and self-reflect on their learning process; questionnaire also helps the teacher to analyze their teaching activity, its effectiveness and result, to maintain proper educational tactics and to improve teaching process.
