TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGE VOCABULARY WITH THE SMART-BOARD ASSISTANCE
In order to automate the skill of using language material (words, phrases, and speech structures), necessary for the construction of oral statements, the cadets require some preliminary training. The SMART board can solve this problem successfully. SMART board is not just a learning support. The ways of teaching cadets can be changed via this means. SMART board has the potential by creating multiple layers on a single screen, which can consistently be introduced to consolidate language items through various operations transformation. The use of multiple layers is a tool that can take the learning material under study to a new level. Making possible the student to make different combinations with the language material in layers, we create a mode of multiple training and fixing this material. Training and consolidation of language units in layers is important for cadets with different levels of language training. If necessary, the student may return to one or another layer, to produce the operation with the language units once more time and to fix their meanings in his mind. Using SMART board, the language material can operate simultaneously with the icons. Symbols and pictograms entered on the screen are associated with lexical units in different combinations within a certain plot. Symbols in the plot function according to the algorithm provided by the teacher. The teacher should pay special attention to the development of multi-layered plot algorithm. We divide the interactive screen into separate frames, thus focusing the attention of the student on a specific information field in which he will work. SMART board makes it easier for the students to capture symbols and icons in their memory by focusing their attention on manipulating on the interactive board. Gradually, the cadet develops the skill of matching text with symbols and icons; thus, the mechanism of equivalent substitutions begins to operate successfully. Furthermore, symbols and icons will be used by the cadet as reference signals to describe what is happening on the SMART board. Following the algorithm of signals location, the student relies on it as a plan for creating statements. The plot remains in the cadet’s memory and later serves as the basis for creating statements. In our research we revealed the positive impact of interactive technologies on learning. With the help of the SMART board the teacher can not only design the situation, but also transform it so as to highlight specific language elements. You can extend this SMART-board operation by inducing the students to create their own situations on the Board. Another activity with the support of the SMART board is an instant correction of errors. This enables students to look for language errors and correct them directly on the interactive whiteboard. Performing such correction independently or with the support of other cadets, they assimilate the laws of the functioning linguistic elements better. The experience with the interactive whiteboard allows us to conclude that the SMART board is really innovative and strong support in the educational process. First of all, it reveals maximally the possibilities of multimedia, enriching it with interactivity.
