In this critical bibliographic essay the author, who is professor of Russian literature at the University of Florence, and has been studying Brodsky's work for many years, presents all Italian translations of his poetry and prose. The essay gives a clear and complete outline of each work, translated into Italian from 1964 till now: collections of poems and prose, miscellanies, where Brodsky's name appears among other names, introductions for poetry and prose of different writers. As to Joseph Brodsky's publishing success in Italy, dating back to 1964 and going on up till now, it is a proof of Italian readers' admiration of his artistic genius. Joseph Brodsky's aesthetics and poetics stand out against Italian culture, with which the poet has hold a dialogue during all his lifetime.
