Man's private life and his self-definition in history: changing "poetics" of a historical novel in prose of 1970s and 1990s (based on "The graveyard in Skuliany" by V. Kataev and "Khorovod" by A. Utkin)
The modernistic novel by V. Kataev and past-realistic novel by A. Utkin are united with the choice of their artistic means of writing. Kataev's autobiographic character while working with the family manuscripts compared his own life with his forefathers', trying to make whole the historic reality of the XX century in general, which is considered to be rather difficult for understanding. In 1990s A. Utkin revealed the impossibility of any family being (Russian, Polish, Caucasus, French, American) in the situation of a historical chaos.
