The Dynamics of the Composition of the Muslim Ummah in the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Region - Yugra
This article discusses the changes in the national composition of the Muslim population of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous region - Yugra. Special attention is paid to the internal contradictions of the Muslim ummah. It analyzes the ethnic composition of the population of the region and official religious associations. In the ethnic composition of the population the Slavic, Turkic and Finno-Ugric language groups are dominated. By Facilities to religious beliefs the Orthodox and Muslims are dominated. Muslims are represented by the following ethnic groups: the Volga Muslims, Central Asian Muslims, Caucasian Muslims (North Caucasian and Caucasian), and others. The Volga Muslims (Tatars and Bashkirs) formed the main part of as members of the Muslim community, as the heads of Muslim religious organizations. In recent years the proportion of Caucasian and Central Asian Muslims is increased significantly. The growing number of Caucasian Muslims who are following to a politicized interpretation of Islam, causes to an open confrontation, both with the authorities and the rest of the Muslims autonomous region. The main factor influencing on the change in the ethno-religious composition of the Muslim world of Ugra is active migration flows to the Autonomous Region from Muslim Russian regions and CIS countries. In the period under review these flows have been consistently high, including from "hot spots". It contributed in violation of the internal balance of the Muslim Ummah. According to information of law enforcement agencies in the region many cases have been reported when the representatives of the Islamist movement tried to recruit Muslims in Ugra for extremist activity. The unity of the Islamic Ummah in Ugra today is quite nominal, and the life of the Muslim community itself is filled with deep internal divisions. The article focuses on the issues of prevention of the manifestations of radical Islam and extremism in the Muslim world. Currently a program directed to harmonization of interethnic and intercultural relations is realized in the region.
