The Monotowns of Saratov Region: Defining the Prospects, Constructing the Future
The article deals with the development of companytowns - the special territorial entities, characterized by single-industry economy and dependence onthe impact of single enterprise. The presence of so many company towns put Russia in a difficult situationdue to the development of the global financial crisis and the ensuing difficulties in the cityformingenterprises. The authors consider the situation in the two-company towns of Saratov region:Wolski and Balakovo, analyze their main problems, suggest possible ways of development.
