Army as a part of life values of senior pupils
Nowadays positive estimates of the state of affairs can be observed in the Russian army. However, military service doesn't catch up with a schedule of an overwhelming majority of young people. Comparison of different age groups of youth proves that the quantity of those who are definitely not willing to enter the army is increasing with aging, as well as those who consider themselves not to be ready for entering the army. By the end of high school just a bit more than a tenth of army draftees tend to join the armed forces; to add more, among them not all consider themselves to be completely ready for doing military service. There is a significant difference in relation to the state of mind of pupils living in megalopolis and towns towards military service. The quantity of pupils living in megalopolis, who don't tend to enter the army and, moreover, have an excuse from military service, is twice as big as those who do. Pupils' attitude towards serving in the army, in the whole, and, particularly, towards serving in the armed forces is more likely to be negative. It is estimated that prevalence rate of military hazing and bullying amounts for the largest number of negative responses. But at the same time, most pupils point out a special place the army takes on the world stage, as well as its high prestige. Within life values of draft-age youth patriotism and serving Motherland are low valued. Health, favorite work and friendly family are, above all, the most important components of vital success. Resoluteness and manhood comprise the top ten of prime characteristics, too, though it is more common for them to be used in the context of successful career. Statistical methods of data grouping make it possible to separate groups of young people guided by different life values. One of those groups includes such values as serving one's own Motherland and its defense, patriotism, as well as faith and religion. According to a number of estimates, focus on power and wealth is the opposite to this group. The third group is focused on the family and the fourth one - on realization of personal potential in profession and career. Pupil's attitude towards military service is strongly influenced by their parents' attitude. Teenagers' parents, guided by patriotism and serving their Motherland, are distinguished by comparatively strong advertency towards the future of their child. Their attitude towards the army is positive, thus, they definitely advise or even insist on entering the army.
