Richard Rorty and the crisis of modern western philosophy
The split of Western philosophy in the twentieth century into continental and analytical branches is considered as a sign of its crisis. The construction of the philosophical canon for each of the branches is the legitimization of the philosophical discipline as an heir to the tradition. Classification by Richard Rorty the ways of constructing the canon allows a comparison of the values of analytic and continental philosophy in correlation with the understanding of philosophy as a culture.
