Activism and participation: social technologies of cooperation with urban population in the process of "production" of urban space
It has been observed just recently that the focus of research in the humanities in our society has shifted towards urban studies. "Turn to the city" in cultural studies and in philosophy was outlined at the turn of the two-thousands. Before that the city problems were analyzed mainly in the field of sociology, social geography, and economics. At the same time, the discourse of "production of space" was formed. The understanding of space as the result of production has arisen due to the fact that it was necessary to conceptualize a city as a process in which various actors are involved, including various urban communities. The article deals with the possibilities and willingness of urban communities to participate in the process of transformation of Russian cities, and reveals how real or virtual groups of residents are able to resist ill-conceived design decisions.
