Justice as a transcendental a priori of sociality: the economic component of modern social theory (on the example of Georg Simmel's "philosophical" sociology of fashion)

The article reveals the methodological importance of the principles of economy and modern social theory. The question of the possibility of thorough thematisation of the newest type of sociality by converging the discursive tools of economy and modern social theory is posed on the example of Georg Simmel's philosophical position on fashion. The prospects for interpretations of fashion as a cultural form that establishes social justice, as a form of the social "universal" responsible for the establishment of a universal public order are discussed. It is shown that the general theoretical reception of fashion as a social practice demonstrates its special hybrid status due to which fashion is in contact with diverse discourse fields responsible for the variety of representations of sociality. The subject of the discussion is Simmel's philosophical sociology. His concept of "forms of socialisation" treats the latter in the spirit of the universal cultural and social universals. One can talk about them in isolation from a specific historical content. But this does not prevent Simmel as a theorist from describing separate cultural forms as historically transitory and changeable. They declare themselves at a certain historical moment, have their own reasons for the emergence and their own history of "cultural socialisation". All this is only to indicate the general direction in the movement of a social formation as such. Simmel names fashion among similar forms. The article reveals the methodological significance of the economic horizon of representation, the mechanisms of the accumulation and exchange for the adoption of fashion as a significant cultural social practice that contributes to the establishment of a more equitable redistribution of public goods.
