Eventless history in postmodernist
The article reviews the problems of changes in the understanding of historical events and eventless history in postmodernism. Changes were already outlined in the framework of modernism and were based on the notion that a historical event is "separated" from reality and it is, first of all, a construction of the subject. Changes were also based on the idea of the historical process that cannot be made up of events exclusively. Events only indicate changes and act as measurement milestones. Therefore, there must be something in the historical process that is not an event. In the researchers' attention was the so-called "eventless history" which in modernism was an alternation within the norms and traditions, the opposite of "eventful" history. In postmodernism, eventless history has a completely different form. Simulacra are eventless history, they can look like events, possess their properties, but they are not events. Simulacrum events do not oppose historical events, but tend to take their place and even "become" them. With outer resemblance to events, simulacrum events occur on the surface and create the illusion of change and movement. Unlike historical events, they do not pursue the goal of finding the truth, their goal is adaptability to anything. This means that simulacra precede a real event, and models predetermine a real fact. In history, the present precedes the past: in the present, events of the past can be "canceled", estimates can be changed, etc. Events, therefore, are created in the present and are transformed into the past. Historical events are "adjusted" to the desired result, which can be the embodiment of the dominant ideology. In this case, it is not the search for meaning of an event that is carried out, but fact-finding and event-designing in order to implement the already given meaning. An event whose meaning is predetermined does not need to be fixed in space and time, in concreteness and uniqueness. A feature of historical research is the search for information; more information helps to reveal the deep layers of meaning. But the modern flow of information consists of a large number of copies and simulacra, which leads to the opposite situation - an increase in the amount of information entails a reduction of meaning. This flow of information is partly the result of the activities of the media, which are at the same time a type of historical sources. A feature of the functioning of the media is the same status of events, which makes it difficult to separate real events and simulacra.
