Has the boy been born yet?

The article attempts a critical analysis of Olga Stoliarova's discussion of historical epistemology and historical ontology. It is shown that the so-called historical epistemology is a traditional theory of knowledge that takes into account the results of epistemological conceptions proposed by the thinkers of the past. As far as historical ontology is concerned, the meaning of this term remains unclear. It is argued that the main value of Stoliarova's paper is that it clearly states that well-known philosophical problems are currently discussed in the European and Anglo-American philosophy. In most cases, foreign writers mean to give something new to philosophy when they introduce new terms. However, it is often easy to recognize old and well-known problems of philosophy behind all these new words.
