The Symbol of the Trinity in the Russian Philosophical Utopia (Dmitry Merezhkovsky and Daniil Andreev)
The article considers the changes in the religious foundations of society proposed in the utopian projects of Russian philosophy focusing on the interpretation of the tenet of the Trinity. For analysis, two utopias were selected (Dmitry Merezhkovsky's "The Third Kingdom" and Daniil Andreev's The Rose of the World), in which special attention is paid to the changing of the religious foundations of the future society. Merezhkovsky's project was created within the framework of the concept of the "new religious consciousness" that took shape in the philosophy of the Silver Age. Important for the philosopher is the union of religion and culture through the spiritual rebirth of man in a new society. The main goal of the project is the Kingdom of God, in which the evolution of Christianity took place, a single world church was created, the secret of sex was revealed and the harmony of nature and society was established. His religion of the "Third Testament" was to resolve all existing contradictions. The use of symbolism gives him the opportunity to reveal the significance of the religious tenet of the Trinity. In this utopia, the feminine plays a leading role, which helps trace the connection with feminist projects of the 20th century. Andreev's utopia, like Merezhkovsky's project, is built on the new religious teaching of the philosopher, which he calls interreligion. The ultimate goal is the World Brotherhood reminiscent of the ideal of the Kingdom of God. At the core is also a change in the interpretation of the tenet of the Trinity - the introduction of the Female Deity. Thus, the polarity of the two principles - male and female - manifests itself in the Divine. The philosopher examines the role of the feminine and the masculine and comes to the conclusion that they need a relative balance in the world. These are two projects offering their vision of religious ideas in the future society, which are built on the relationship in the nature of the male and female principles. Through the interpretation of the Trinity, the philosophers show the importance of the female principle in the world, its role in the harmonization of society.
