THE CLASSICAL UNIVERSITY AND THE DEMANDS OF THE LABORMARKET: THE TRANSFER OF TRANSFERABLE SKILLS

The article is based on the results ofnumerous research dedicated to the gap between the higher education's offer and the labor market's demand. Summarizing the employer's demand, author comes to the conclusion that desired characteristics of the higher educational graduates do unexpectedly include fundamental theoretical knowledge and, in general, are similar to widely discussed transferable skills. Author argues that most of the transferable skills, fundamental training including, are in need of the classical university milieu and that it's alternatives, namely corporate and short term post-graduate training are both, insufficient in relation to the demand of the labor market and harmful to the classical university
