On D. Davidsons theory of interpretation and epistemology
The subject of analysis are some specific features of D. Davidsons theories of meaningand interpretation which underlie his optimistic epistemological position in regard both to knowledgeabout the world and understanding others. It is demonstrated that, according to basic theses of Davidsoniantheory of meaning, the interpretation has a unifying character. This, on one hand, makes theepistemological optimism possible but, on the other hand, confines the applicability of such a notion ofinterpretation to propositional languages.
