The power and the church during the Great Patriotic War: a modern dimension

In this article, the problem of mutual relations of Soviet power and Russian Orthodox Church in the years of Great Patriotic war is investigated. Motives, the reasons, logic of behavior of two public structures are open up, on the basis of modern historiography and sources of that time. An author begins research of problem from the beginning of war, because then a church already showed the attitude toward power. Narrating about the actions which were conducted outside the party, church and authorities, author opens the reason of sharp changing of anti-religious politics in the Soviet Union on politics of collaboration with a church. The time of fracture between the government and the church in the Soviet Union, because of which the Russian Orthodox Church began reviving and strengthening in the social structure and life revealed in this article. After analyzing the changes in the relationship between the church and the government during the war years, the author reveals the significance of the changes for the entire cultural and spiritual history of our country.
