The linguistic identity of the Sloboda Ukrainian in the 19th century (in works by P. Barvinsky)
Inreconstruction of the verbal portrait of a representative of an elite communication identity, in the focus of our attention is the concept of "linguistic identity", as well as the three-level system which includes lexis, thesaurus and pragmatic competence. The study of the language identity of an unrenowned Ukrainian XIX century playwright, Pavel YakovLevich Barvinsky, enables to interpret the signature worLdview of the author, who is a cultural figure of SLoboda Ukraine, and to restore the axioLogicaL variety of SLoboda Ukraine ethnic culture. This implies the study of three basic Levels which comprise a Linguistic identity, including: 1) the verbal and semantic Level, which reveals Barvisky's competence in Ukrainian Linguistic cuLture; 2) the cognitive LeveL made up of concepts which create a more or Less organized worLdview, i.e., a hierarchy of ethnic and cuLturaL vaLues of SLoboda Ukraine; 3) the pragmatic LeveL, which defines the intentionaL strategy of an artist (his or her objectives, motives, interests, attitudes).
