The idea of national revival in Return to Egypt by V. Sharov: A dialogue with Gogol

The focus of the article is a writer's dialogue between Vladimir Sharov N.V. Gogol. The material of the study is a novel "Return to Egypt" (2013) by V. Sharov, which tells the story about Gogol's kind in 20th century and the fate of the namesake of the great writer, seeking to fulfill the purpose of the genus and finish the poem "Dead Souls". V. Sharov is interested in Gogolas a writer who strongly emphasized his exceptional missionary role in the nation's history as far as sought to reveal in a number of his works the path to national revival and the essence unique historical destiny of Russia. Novel by Sharov, manifesting the continuation of the poem "Dead Souls", is associated with the creation of alternative version of national history. In the present historical alternatives particular view of the nation's spiritual path to the revolutionary events beginning of 20th century is shown. The novel shows the correlation of the story of the exodus from sacred history and the story of the poem associated with the subsequent fate of Chichikov, causes extension of the image of the New Jerusalem to the fore. A set of ideas and revolutionary changes Gogol plants in the late period of creativity merges in the novel through the image of the heavenly Jerusalem. The collision in the novel of two versions of the heavenly Jerusalem, and socio-utopian moral and religious justification reveals the dialogue with Gogol in space of contemporary prose-oriented search bases national identity.
