Mikhail Kachkovskiy i sovremennaya galitsko-russkaya literatura [Mikhail Kachkovskii and Contemporary Galician-Russian Literature]
In his booklet published in L'vov in 1876, B.A. Deditskii, who according to V.R. Vavrik, was the first professional journalist of Galician Russ, relates about the life of one of the prominent activists of the Russian Movement in Galicia, M.A. Kachkovskii, who was an advocate of the unity of the Russian People. Deditskii also relates about the situation in which M. Kachkovskii's views were formulated, about the circle of his like-minded friends and presents an inclusive review of Galician-Russian Literature in Galicia up to 1848. In L'vov in 1861, M. Kachkovskii founded the first independent Russian political newspaper «The Word». All of his savings (80 000 guilder) M. Kachkovskii bequeathed for national purposes. On the initiative of Father John Naumovich in 1874, these funds were used to found «The Society in the Name of Mikhail Kachkovskii», which carried out cultural-educational work among the Rusins of Galicia.
