Slavyanskie rukopisi Peshtskogo muzeya i, v chastnosti, «russkaya» rukopis' 1803 goda (Posvyashchaetsya moemu tovarishchu F. I. Uspenskomu) [Slavic Manuscripts of the Museum of Pest and, in particular, the Russian of1803 (dedicated to my friend F. I. Uspenskii)]

Working in the National Museum of Budapest in 1875, A. Kochubinskii uncovered a manuscript called "Cantilenae sive specimina linguae Ruthenicae et Valachicae in Transylvania". In it, in particular, are given the songs of the Slavic inhabitants - of the "Ruthenians" of Lutheran confession from four villages of Southern Transylvania. Later the scholar came to the conclusion that the language of these songs was Russian. This population was assimilated by the Hungarians and the Vlachs (Rumanians). However, in the north of Hungary, the Russ (Rusin) population was preserved up to the present time. The author shows its numbers and ethnographic boundary.
