O russkom plemeni v Dunaiskom Zales'e [Regarding the Russian Tribe in the Danubian "Lands Beyond the Woods"]
The article presents as an additional lecture at the 7th Archeological Meeting in Yaroslavl. A. Kochubinskii presents a parallel between the Finnish-Slavic "Lands Beyond the Woods" of the Upper Volga, where Russians assimilated the Finno-Ugrian Tribes, and the Danubian (Middle Danube, Transylvania, Siebenburgen) where the Russian element emerged in a "passive role of the assimilated Finns of the Volga "Beyond the Woods". The author gives multiple toponyms, hydronyms, orografs which bear witness to the antiquity of the existence of the Russ population (Rusins) in Transylvania. In this article the author wanted to bring to the attention of Russian scholars the "forgotten" Danubian Lands "Beyond the Woods". The study of the history of the Russian (Rusin) population of Transylvania will help to explain the history of the origin of the ethnonym "Russian" and the meaning of the "Russian Land".
