Sacredness and sacralization: sociocultural contexts of today (an introduction to the issues' special theme)
In this introduction, the author explores attitudes toward the sacral (in the broad sense of the term and of its scientific interpretation) in the USSR/Russian Federation in terms of transformation of ideological, cultural, and religious perceptions that existed in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods of the national and cultural revival. Sacralization is considered with regard to what was going on during the post-Soviet period. This issue's special theme section includes articles which demonstrate the preservation of sacred knowledge and practices in different times and the increased relevance and revival of these today.
