New ‘fairy tales of Europe’ told by Russian anthropologists
The readers are invited to read the following articles written by the Russian anthropologists who had drawn on their field materials collected in three European countries - Austria, Iceland, and Spain - in 2015-16. Here, the authors analyze specific cases of constructing cultural oppositions: stereotyping, public protest, and control of a ‘typical’ folk celebration. The narratives and other sources studied can be useful for the planning of responsible public dialogue and for prevention of social conflicts.
