Network interaction' at Vyatka State University
The relevance of studying and of applying the practice of network interaction when implementing educational programmes in the subject areas of anthropology and ethnology at the university is associated with broader issues of the diversification of educational offer, the search for ways to increase the effectiveness of higher education, and the sustainability of higher education and science development. The problem is seen to consist in the need for finding new ways to promote network interaction. The article shows that network interaction in higher education in the case of the Kirov region is rooted in a rich history of scientific and educational communication in the Ural region as well as in the regions of Vyatka-Kama and Volga-Vyatka. Interregional practices developed by scholars at the Perm State University (the region's oldest one currently having the status of a national research university) laid the foundation for cooperation of the academic and teaching communities. At present, network interaction here encompasses a number of platforms and forms of activity including cooperation in conducting expeditions, conferences, research trips, study programmes, and especially practical training for doctoral students, as well as the running of a double degree master's programme (between Russia and the EU). Apart from information technologies widely used for these purposes, the authors consider it important to carry out ethnographic expedition research which lies at the core of this network interaction and demonstrate the practical results thereof achieved so far.
