Is virtual ethnicity a novel phenomenon in the context of tradition?
The article introduces the special issue theme: 'Virtual Ethnicity and Cyber-Ethnography'. The experiences (case studies) presented below attempt to review and understand the scenarios (or stories) of activating virtual ethnicity with their characters, directors, projects, events, rhythms, amplitudes of rises and falls, rate of spread, and relationship with ordinary manifestations of ethnicity. We invite the reader to learn about some web-ethnographic experiments that are based on field and cyber-field work among Kryashens, Germans, Muslims, and Arctic nomads.
