Siberian Skit Library from the Perspective of Slavia Orthodoxa
Based on the materials of an Old Believer monastic community book collection, the issue of the participation of Orthodox liturgical and didactic texts in the construction of popular variants of messianic eschatology is being resolved. As a methodological tool, we use the classification of historical source data according to the degree of frequency, verifiability and uniqueness, developed by I.N. Danilevsky. We analyze The Skit library in the context of the processes of collecting the books needed for group and individual prayers, the implementation of tasks for their physical preservation, and the writing experiences of the community. We compare the obtained direct and indirect data from the point of their ability to provide information about the intellectual needs, behavioral strategies and religious reflections of the peasant hermit life in the 2nd half of the 19th - early 21st centuries. The author declares no conflict of interests.
