The Photographic Collection of the State Museum of the History of Religion as a Source for the Study of the Old Believer Culture of the 19-20th Centuries
The article studies the photographs of Old Believers taken in the 20th century from the collection of the Museum of the History of Religion (St. Petersburg). The research focuses on the photographs of clergymen, believers, the most important events of religious life in the beginning of the century, materials of investigative cases during the period of persecution, and expedition photographs made by the museum staff during Soviet times. The attribution and systematization of museum items provide a wealth of material on the history of Old Believers. Most of the monuments are published for the first time. The author declares no conflict of interests.
