The Religious Worldview of a Modern Old Believer: Text and Context of Field Research
The article uses the case study method to examine the religious worldview of an Old Believer living in the United States and her picture of the world associated with the New Religious Movements. The studies are placed in the context of two main approaches to field research - anthropological and historical-ethnographic. The Baltic context associated with the origin of the Old Believer, the global changes that led her to migrate to the United States, her views that reflect global trends and freedom of self-determination in the post-modern period are analyzed. The text was prepared on the basis of field research in New York, the USA and the Baltics. The author declares no conflict of interests.
