Siberian Territorial Identities: The Search for Forms of Visual Representation of Siberian Regions

The article is based on fresh field materials collected by the author in 2022-2023 in the Tyumen and Novosibirsk regions, as well as the Krasnoyarsk Krai. Materials collected using the Internet and a series of remote interviews in the Omsk region, were also used in the article, which led to an informational "bias" in favor of regions where field work took place. The research project of the Siberian identity and its local variants is still ongoing, and therefore this text covers only a part of the Siberian regions represented by the largest cities of Siberia. With regard to the study of identity, the author of the text adheres to the position of purposeful social construction both on the part of the Siberian administrations and other informal forces and structures. Both the officially approved regional agenda and informal, spontaneous forms of identities that have formed outside / contrary to the administrative mainstream are considered.
