Contacting foreign culture in the context of intercultural communication by means of conflict
The article addresses the interaction of a culture and a language on the whole and focuses on the mutual enrichment of the cultures by means of conflict. The author provides some universal concepts, acting as cultural values and reflecting the attitude of both Russian and English native speakers towards such aspects as time, life space, power, activity, freedom and personal autonomy. To figure out factors of the cross-cultural collision, various cross-cultural situations, based on empiric research are provided. They exemplify the emerging of the socalled «conflict of cultures» and lead to novel discoveries within both cultures.
