Church museums of Western Siberia: problems of classification
One of the particularly important issues of modern museum science includes points related to the study of the structure of the museum network, formation of new groups, museums, providing new or adapting historical classification approaches and criteria. In the second half of the XIX century in the museum network of Russia a new group of museums that were in the office of the Russian Orthodox Church had emerged. Their actualization as a cultural form was associated with the need to reform of education and with spiritual spheres of monument-preserving activities. The classification of church museums of this historical period is based on the on the principle of owner, among which were religious schools, church and archaeological society, Orthodox brotherhoods and monasteries. Church museums as a cultural form in this historical period were in the process of formation, and this condition affected on conventionality of classification criteria and the classification itself. Nationwide processes of Church revival and revitalization of activity of the Russian Orthodox Church in the sphere of culture, education and social service at the end of XX - the first decade of the XXI century led to the process of creating and recreating church museums. This development has actualized classification approaches. The classification system used at the present stage of development of museum science can not be fully applied to church museums in connection with the separation of church and state. However, theoretical research and practical experience in the field of museology can be used to determine the classification of the church museums. For museums of the Russian Orthodox Church existing at the present stage typology, profile, as well as their belonging to one group or another corresponding to the type of collected data and monuments presented to society and status position can be established. Difficulties in the development of classification approaches are primarily connected with the lack of a centralized network in Russian museums of ROC and the department to coordinate their activities. Church and social movement had been intensified since the second half of the first decade of the XXI century not only contributed to the creation of a dynamic church museums, but also paved the way for discussion of representatives of the church and museum areas on theoretical and practical issues related to the classification and the centralization of church museums that will determine their place in the Russian museum network.
