Reshaping geo-economic "centrality" as a factor in overcoming the uncertainty of the multipolar world order
Nowadays, there is a geo-economic transformation of the global economic system taking place. The collapse of the bipolar world order and the global economic crisis were the key events which have led to worldwide uncertainty. In the context of a significant increase in fundamental modern economic and political trends, such as globalization, traditional Western powers can no longer hold on to their uncontested dominance. Developing countries have become a new geo-economic force on the world stage, one which has contributed to the creation of an absolutely new global balance. The influential role of BRICS countries and expanded character of the G20 have been the most striking demonstrations of the growing influence of developing countries in the world economy. These changes have begun to be interpreted as the establishment of multi-polarity. Nevertheless, various Western countries have used their technological superiority and post-industrial trends of global economic development in order to regain their geo-economic and geopolitical importance. In this regard, particular attention has been paid to the rebirth of Great Britain. The post-industrial sector itself has become the essential driving force of British economic growth. It is important to mention that one of the most significant processes concerning British foreign policy has been the strengthening of the traditional "Special Relationship" between the United States and the United Kingdom. In the context of contemporary geo-economic conditions, a so-called "Anglo-Saxon Empire" has formed, comprised of Britain and its former colonies: The United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Certainly, the US and the UK have become the two main centres of this political and economic alliance, striving for the preservation of Anglo-Saxon supremacy in the global economy. This situation leads to the clash of unipolar and multipolar trends in international relations. At the same time, in the last few decades, China has risen to become the most prominent geo-economic power among developing markets. There exists a potential possibility for a new bipolarity with US and China as the geopolitical poles. It is obvious that future economic and political configurations are rather uncertain and full of contradictions, and in such geo-economic conditions, there are various countries and regions which are not yet under the direct influence of the leading powers. Russia remains one of the main independent geopolitical forces that could become a full-fledged geo-economic centre and form its own integrated group and sphere of influence. However, Russia's global prospects are also full of uncertainties and contradictions, and largely depend on the direction of its internal modernization.
