Models of potential diversity in development strategies of regions
The article is aimed at substantiation of possibility of modernization of region development on the basis of rational use of the potential of diversification of the economies of its territories and the development of corresponding modeling tools. Diversity is not seen as a problem, indicating structural distortions in the economy of the region, and as a phenomenon that allows the region a competitive advantage. For the regions of the South of Russia is characterized by a significant differentiation in terms of socio-economic development. This is caused by historically developed division of labor and specific territorial characteristics. The implementation of modernization reforms at the expense of their own economic potential of the regions with backward modes is not possible. The solution of these tasks, according to the authors, lies in the plane of the rational use of the potential of the diversity of the region's economy. Opportunities for the development of the backward and depressed areas are associated with the intensification of integration interaction of small business and the periphery of major regional business centre, including through the development of cluster formations. It is shown that the North Caucasus republics with the backward modes have the resources of modernization. The measures aimed at the development of integration interaction in the region. It is concluded that the use of the proposed tools will allow regions with a mixed economy to develop a strategy for regional development based on the rational complement of the potentials of the individual modes.
