Ecologization and safety in the development plans of international transport corridors

In the last decades, the rates of global sectoral integration became much higher due to a continuous economic growth and innovation development in technology, science, production, energy, transport, and communication. Under these conditions, significant growth characterizes development of the transport sector of economy, which plays an important role in modern economy. The transport system of the Russian Federation is becoming a significant part of the global system of the international transport corridors (ITC) providing the world commodity and raw markets with an uninterrupted movement of freight and passengers, labor and production resources, finance and services. The main work on the development of ITC begins including preparation and the subsequent signing of an international agreement is due to create a transport way that will be interesting to a lot of countries. It is known that the functioning of motor, railway, sea, water, air and pipeline transport makes a significant impact on the environment, poses an increased threat of the emergence of accidents and anthropogenic catastrophes which can be accompanied by extensive economic damage. Issues of ecologi-zation of transport and safety are related to decreasing harmful effect on environment; and they result in creation of qualitative living conditions for the population of the country. Extra emphasis has to be placed upon the issues of ensuring the safety of transported freights, prevention of emergencies and accidents, minimization of losses from them, fight against terrorism on transport and other global measures of fight for safety that is crucial for further development and organization of adequate work of all means of transport involved in ITC. The author proposes a model of the process of strengthening the ecological components of the transport and transit capacity of Russia. The model contains the main international determinants, areas of implementation, state problems, reference points for the development of the strategic directions of ecologization.
