On the Background and Basis for Innovative Entrepreneurship Research

The authors of the article touch upon the question whether entrepreneurial activity is changing in the direction of innovation, or the innovative type of entrepreneurship is becoming more noticeable and significant in the system of economic relations. For that, they attempted to classify entrepreneurial activity by the nature of its origin: as a source of income, as a new market opportunity, as an innovation. The activity of using the terms “innovative entrepreneurship” and “technological entrepreneurship” in scientific publications is analyzed. Some reasons for the low innovative activity of Russian small and medium-sized enterprises in the South-Eastern economic zone of the Republic of Tatarstan are investigated. Based on the study, the authors draw a conclusion that large business can be a significant factor in the development of a small innovative entrepreneurship, and the nature of its influence requires a deep complex study.
