Forest tourism development management in the Russian Federation: Problems and prospects

The development of the national tourism industry involves the development and promotion of new tourist destinations within the country. The aim of this work is to develop practical recommendations for the development of forest tourism in spe- cially protected natural areas. The article identifies the main trends in the development of tourism activities in the forests of specially protected natural areas. The author conducted a SWOT analysis that demonstrated the advantages and threats of this type of domestic tourism for the Russian Federation. The main attention is paid to the issues of development, promotion, and increasing of the attractiveness of forest tourism in the country. The theoretical provisions presented in the article can be applied in scientific and educational activities, and practical recommendations will be useful for municipal and regional authorities developing and implementing programs for the development of new types of domestic tourism in order to meet the target indicators of the Tourism and the Hospitality Industry national project.
