Surplus value in the realities of the post-industrial economy

This article re-examines the concept of surplus value within the context of the post-industrial economy. Proceeding from the principle of its intellectual resilience - despite attempts to deconstruct classical Marxist paradigms - the article analyzes the reasons for, and the idea of, the continued theoretical and cultural relevance of the concept. The study explores the historical roots of the theory, its metaphysical appeal, empirical corroboration and criticism, internal logical contradictions, as well as alternative forms of surplus value extraction within the digital (data) economy. The conclusion is drawn regarding the necessity of rethinking and adapting the Marxist analytical toolkit to new economic realities. The authors declare no conflicts of interests.
