Research of the influence of regional conditions on the business demography of enterprises in Russia's food sector
This article investigates the influence of various regional factors, demand potential, enterprise financial stability, the regional institutional environment, as well as the impact of the crises of 2015, 2020, and 2022 on the business demography of food-producing enterprises. The analyzed panel comprises a dataset spanning 10 years from 2014 to 2023 across 82 regions of the Russian Federation. The primary analytical method involves constructing regression equations for indicators of enterprise openings and closures. The best model quality was achieved using a random effects model, as confirmed by conducted tests. The study demonstrates that the greatest influence on enterprise creation is exerted by: growth in the share of urban population (+), growth in the consumer price index (-), growth in the labor productivity index (+), growth in labor force size (+), and the 2015 crisis (+). Factors influencing closures include: growth in the share of urban population (-), growth in the consumer price index (-), growth in the labor productivity index (-), growth in the unemployment rate (+), investment rating (+), the 2015 crisis (-), and the 2022 crisis (-). The authors declare no conflicts of interests.
